In the late 1920s and early ’30s, Richard Wright worked as a mail sorter at the main branch of the Chicago post office. Today, the U.S. Postal Service will hold a ceremony celebrating their issue of a commemorative stamp in honor of the late author. The First Day of Issue Ceremony for the Richard Wright stamp takes place today at 11 a.m. in the east lobby of the Chicago Main Post Office, located at 433 W. Harrison St.  which starts at 11:00 at the main branch of the Chicago post office.

Dr. Madhubuti is the president of Third World Press and a teacher, activist, and poet. He remembers how he was first introduced to Richard Wright.
