Hello Beautiful!

Web Extra: Rare Louis Armstrong Recordings

There have been fifty years of jazz at Ravinia, and John McDonough has seen and heard virtually all of it. At many concerts, he brought along a portable reel-to-reel tape recorder, capturing undercover—now historic—recordings of many of the great jazz masters. Here are some tracks from his collection we bet you've never heard before:

Louis Armstrong
“Hello, Dolly!”—July 29, 1967

Tyree Glenn—Trombone
Joe Moranyi—Clarinet
Marty Napoleon—Piano
Buddy Catcot—Bass
Donny Bareclona—Clarinet
