Here and Now

May 11, 2018: Hour 1

We discuss the politics of President Trump backing out of the Iran nuclear deal this week, as well as questions raised by the release of Trump personal lawyer Michael Cohen's financial documents, with Fox News senior Capitol Hill producer Chad Pergram and NPR White House reporter Ayesha Rascoe. Also, there were 887 opioid overdose deaths in West Virginia in 2016. The state's health commissioner, Dr. Rahul Gupta, examined the circumstances behind every one of them. He joins Here & Now's Robin Young to discuss the opioid crisis and its impact in the state. And linguist Lynne Murphy explores the differences between British and American English in her new book "The Prodigal Tongue: The Love-Hate Relationship Between American and British English."
