50 years ago this week, thousands of people converged in Chicago for the  Democratic National Convention. There was a mix of anti-war protestors,  neighborhood kids railing against authority- it was the ’60s after all,  national journalists and of course convention delegates. There was also
a large police presence around the hotel that hosted those delegates,as well in Lincoln Park. What ensued is enshrined in the now famous chant, “the whole world is watching”, as the cops battled with protestors and even people who happned to be in the vicinity of the mayhem.  In this podcast episode we bring you some of the voices that were on the ground during those tumultuous days. We also hear from a Chicago reporter who recently sifted thru letters praising Richard J. Daley for his actions against protestors.
