Alderman Joe Moore says Council’s ready for reform
Earlier this week, two aldermen-O’Connor (40th) and Moore (49th)-penned an opinion piece for the Chicago Tribune entitled “City Council proving it’s ready for reform”. In it they reiterated the mayor’s focus from early in his administration to tighten or create various ethics rules, protect whistle blowers and generally establish a new era of transparency for city government. Yet the same day the op-ed was in the newspaper, both voted to remove power from the office charged with keeping an eye on alderman. Joe Moore explains his vote, and what he thinks of the Legislative Inspector General.
