While hundreds of Chicagoans celebrated the championship Jackie Robinson West All-Stars Little League team, Chicago Public School officials were celebrating the district’s latest academic achievements. CPS Chief of Accountability John Barker presented a five-slide PowerPoint to a sparse crowd inside the district’s loop headquarters. Each slide outlined district-wide averages on five measurements: ACT scores, NWEA performance and growth, attendance, five-year graduation rates, and freshman on-track rates. WBEZ’s Becky Vevea has the latest on those scores and more from Wednesday’s Chicago Board of Education meeting.
