Charles Bradley, and his United States of Soul

Singer Charles Bradley spent decades in relative obscurity as a James Brown impersonator. And the road he traveled wasn’t just long, it was exceptionally hard. Then, at age 62, he released his debut album. The turn from squalor to stardom was pretty quick. Bradley’s life is the subject of a new documentary, Charles Bradley: Soul of America. We speak with Bradley, and filmmaker Poull Brien, about this inspiring life’s journey. Photo: Flickr/Radio6NL
