Chicago musician Fareed Haque has come a long way from playing “Free Bird” in his high school days but what remains is his guitar playing virtuosity. Haque can play just about everything from rock to jazz and classical and folk music from a variety of countries including India. His latest release Trance Hypothesis is an East meets West outing of Indo-Pakistan traditions fused with Jimmy Smith funk. Haque and the band perform at a CD release show Saturday but Morning Shift gets a preview.
