Chicago Organization Sends Books To Women In Prison
Women in prison often face unique challenges than that of their male counterparts. As parents of minors, they have to adjust their parenting behind bars and, as they get older, experience hormonal changes that take a physical and mental toll on their bodies. One way to help overcome those challenges is through reading. Women in prison often read to their children during visits, to educate themselves, to read up on side effects of their medicine, and more.
One organization is looking to provide female prisoners with the needed resources to help educate them with their mental, physical, and educational needs. Morning Shift talks to Vicki White, president of Chicago Books to Women in Prison, and Monica Cosby.
