Chicagoans Continue To Help Puerto Rico Hurricane Recovery

Hurricane season started on June 1.

While no hurricanes have formed so far, the first “hurricane watch” went into effect Wednesday night for a storm that’s headed toward Louisiana in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Puerto Rico is still recovering from Hurricane Maria, the Category 5 storm that pummeled the island in September of 2017 — knocking out power for months and taking more than 3,000 lives.

Morning Shift checks in Puerto Rican Agenda, a Chicago nonprofit that has been helping both people on the island and many hundreds of people who evacuated and came to live in Chicago after the storm.

GUEST: Cristina Pacione-Zayas, co-chair of the Puerto Rican Agenda
