Deadline hits for Indiana parents to obtain school vouchers
Deadline to enroll in Indiana’s school voucher program was yesterday. The program allows parents who meet certain income requirements to be eligible to receive public funds to pay for sending their child to a private school. More and more parents are enrolling in the program but some school districts oppose it because it because it takes away money from struggling districts; there is also a separation of church and state issue. WBEZ Northwest Indiana reporter Michael Puente has the latest. We're also joined by Marissa Lynch, State Field Director for School Choice Indiana, and Dr. Cheryl Pruitt, Superintendent of Gary Public Schools.
