Many agree that 2018 was a big year for people of color in movies that weren’t just indie films—they were major blockbusters. Moviegoers enjoyed the first major film to feature a black superhero ("Black Panther") and "Crazy Rich Asians" grossed nearly $175 million in the U.S.
