Documentary focuses gay rights fight on African-American community

Illinois’ fight for gay rights passed a major hurdle in November 2013 when the state legislature passed a bill to legalize same-sex marriage. That fight continues in many states and can divide communities. Filmmaker Yoruba Richen documents some of the history and the deeper fight between gay rights proponents and some members of the African-American community in her film The New Black. Richen joins us to explain what this divide reveals. (Photo: Flickr/d4yw41k3r)
