Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy are feeling the pressure to come up with solutions for Chicago’s rising murder rate, while comabtting an increasingly unflattering image of a city ravaged by violence. The Mayor announced moving more police officers to the streets, but will that curb the street violence epidemic? Tracey Meares of Yale University explores ways that cities and police can confront crime, and the former Chicagoan offers her ideas on what Chicago can do to cure the epidemic.
