In a series of reports late last year, WBEZ’s Tony Arnold and Chicago Sun-Times’ Chris Fusco revealed that the Dept. of Children and Family Services is losing more kids to abuse and neglect than at any other time in the past 30 years. Those numbers sparked outrage from lawmakers calling for reform at the agency. The Illinois Senate wrapped up hearings last week addressing the issue. Sen. Mattie Hunter has been a vocal opponent of DCFS and she explains what changes she expects from the agency.
