Money is the top item on the agenda at Wednesday’s Chicago Board of Education meeting. With the public schools facing a billion-dollar shortfall, board members are convening to vote on two measures to head off a fiscal catastrophe. The first has to do with short term: a vote to authorize $200 million in new borrowing to get the district through the rest of June. The second is long term - or at least a little more long term – a vote to a billion-dollar line of credit to shore up the financials for another year.
