Illinoisans making the jump out of state

A recent report from the Brookings Institution found that Illinois is one of the states losing the most residents, based on the U.S. Census’ latest population and migration numbers. Illinois has seen this trend before but residents heading out are at its highest numbers in half a decade. Local writer and entrepreneur Saya Hillman has seen this happen firsthand. She writes that 42 of her friends have moved out of Chicago in the past 14 months. The reasons vary but it’s forced her to take stock in her own future here. Saya Hillman joins us to reflect on staying-and leaving-Illinois, and we take your calls on what would make you migrate out the Land of Lincoln. (Flickr/Marco Varisco)
