Jazz bassist Lorin Cohen returns Home with a new album
For bassist and composer Lorin Cohen, home means many different places. Since 2012, he’s lived and worked in New York City. For years, he’s laid his head in hotel rooms across the globe touring as a leader and a sideman. Cohen cut his teeth here in Chicago, and the home he grew up in is in Lincolnwood. It’s this last location, and the warmth and support he’s always felt from his family that’s provided inspiration for his new album, simply titled “Home”. Cohen returns home-with a band of crack NYC musicians in tow-for a two-night stand at the Green Mill. But first, he stops by the Morning Shift to play some fresh grooves.
