Since 1997, Chicago musician Doug McCombs (Tortoise, Eleventh Dream Day) has been recording under the band name Brokeback. Earlier this month he released Brokeback and the Black Rock, his sixth with this project. McCombs is joined on this album, and our studios, by fellow current Brokeback-ians Pete Croke (Tight Phantomz, Head of Skulls!, Reds and Blue), Chris Hansen (Pinebender, Head of Skulls!), and James Elkington (the Zincs, the Horse’s Ha). The group join The Morning Shift to perform songs from the new release. Brokeback performs tonight at Saki Records in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood.
