New twist for Governor Quinn’s defunct anti-violence program

The Neighborhood Recovery Initiative is the subject of state and federal probes after an audit revealed it was poorly run, and lacked appropriate oversight in the placement of funds. Critics and political opponents claim the program was launched right before the 2010 election to help Quinn gain votes. The latest twist involves Cook County Clerk Dorothy Brown’s husband. Chicago Sun-Times Springfield Bureau Chief Dave McKinney has been on the story and he shares the latest details. Photo: Flickr/peoplesworld
