No Closer To A State Budget, But A Shake-up In The Players At The Table
Lawmakers have until midnight tonight to come up with a budget. Otherwise, the state goes into the third straight year without one. And the cuts to social services, uncertainty for higher ed, and stalled road construction, among many other issues, will continue. While the Senate and House Leaders hemmed and hawed, gave and take behind closed doors, there was news in the halls of the Capitol. Republican Senate Leader Christine Radogno announced her retirement, effective Saturday.
