By Daniel TuckerMorning Shift continues its Our Representatives series where we’re checking in with the Congressmen, Congresswomen and Senators that represent the WBEZ listening area in Washington. So far, we’ve spoken to lawmakers in Illinois and Indiana, and now we’re adding Michigan to the mix.
Republican Congressman Fred Upton represents the southwest corner of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, including towns like Kalamazoo, South Haven, Benton Harbor, and his hometown of St. Joseph.
Upton has been in Congress for three decades where he’s a member of the Great Lakes caucus. He served as chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee from 2011 to 2017 and is currently a member of the House-Senate conference committee on tax reform.
