The tangible objects of war can describe the intangible things that those who fight carried with them on the battlefield and back home. This was the central idea in Tim O’Brien’s novel, The Things They Carried. The Student Veterans Association at University of Illinois at Chicago have taken that theme and updated it for the current generation of veterans with the exhibition The Things We Carried.
