Charming Axe is the product of talent coming out of Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music. Veteran Old Town teacher Rob Newhouse, Eugenia Elliott and Hannah Hill sing traditional tunes, contemporary covers, and originals, spanning bluegrass, pop, country and folk with lush romantic ballads and lively toe-tappers. The group’s Appalachian three-part harmony style take one back to the era of the Carter Family. The band has a couple of shows this weekend but we get them first on Morning Shift.
