Films adaptations like Hunger Games and Divergent show strong female characters, but are young people only learning about these from the big screen? Studies show that fewer kids are reading for pleasure. This decline got WBEZ blogger Leah Pickett thinking about some of her favorite literary heroines-girls and women she admired while reading their stories as a child.
