On this episode we feature two of the winning stories by writers Dana Wood and L. C. Fiore from our “Now Hear This” Stories on Stage short stories competition. The live program was recoreded in 2004 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, and directed by Michael E. Myers.

We start with a story about a wife’s questions to her husband during a small town baseball game in “Bluster and Balserdash,” by L. C. Fiore. His fiction has since appeared in Make, a Chicago literary magazine. Kevin Gudal reads.

Our second story is “The Moving Tree,” by Dana Wood.  Her story was inspired by the Chicago Tribune’s foreign correspondent Laurie Goering’s coverage of political, social and economic upheavals in Africa. Wood has completed a novel, and a collection of stories highlighting the plight of modern Africans. “The Moving Tree”  is read by Vikki Myers.

Theme Music: “Nomad” by Strunz & Farah
Button Music: “Throw it Away” by Abbey Lincoln

The 2007 live season is now on stage at Steppenwolf Theatre.
