Almost a week after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Ecuador, the death toll has now reached almost 600. Aid workers are on the ground, but aftershocks and supply delays are hampering the efforts. People remain afraid.
“The aftershocks are still scaring the population, who are still pretty traumatized,” said Javier Alvarez, director of strategic response and global urgencies for Mercy Corps.
