On this week’s Barber Shop Show, the Shop was rockin’… or so to speak. We featured Rick Stone from the Black Ensemble Theater’s “Ain’t No Crying the Blues: In the Memory of Howlin Wolf” (pictured here). He plays Howlin Wolf in that production. He was be joined by guitar player Oscar “Joose” Brown, Jr. We was also joined by Billy Branch, Chicago Blues artist and founder of the Blues in the Schools program. He talked about being an “Ambassador of the Blues”, and about the time he and his band had to literally flee a town after a gig in Turkey. And of course, there was plenty of time to jam. The Barber Shop Show is hosted by WBEZ’s Richard Steele. It airs live from Carter’s Barber Shop in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood on Fridays at Noon (CST) with a rebroadcast Saturdays at Noon. http://vocalo.org 89.5fm (NWI/CHI) and 90.7fm (CHI).
