On this week’s installment of The Barber Shop Show, Host Richard Steele discussed the state of education in Chicago and the 7 new charter schools approved by the Chicago Public School board.
We were joined by Maudlyne Ihejirika, Urban Affairs Reporter at the Chicago Sun-Times. We got an education update from WBEZ’s Linda Lutton & Becky Vevea.
Then, we heard from Erica Swinney, Program Director of Manufacturing Renaissance at Austin Polytechnical Academy, as well as
Jeralmiah Harmon, a 2012 graduate from Austin Polytech. He successfully transitioned into a job though the Manufacturing Renaissance program.
We also heard from Angelica Alfaro, a Noble Charter School alumna from the first graduating class in 2003.
