On Friday, the 29th, Drinks over Dearborn, a specialty beer, wine and spirits boutique is celebrating their first appearance in February’s issue of Food & Wine Magazine with a night of food and drinks.

Peter Vestinos will be shaking up Hendrick’s Gin, Milagro Tequila and Stoilchnaya Vodka cocktails and Glendfiddich’s U.S. Brand Ambassador Freddy May will lead tastings of Glenfiddich 12, 15, 18‚  and 21 year-old Scotch Whiskey.

A surprise guest Chicago chef will also be cooking up some treats while you try Vestino’s cocktails.

Tickets are $50, half of which will be a tax-deductible donation to the American Red Cross to aid in support of the recent earthquake in Haiti.

Also on Friday, Chicago’s finest chefs are coming together at the 13th Annual Grand Chefs Gala/Jean Banchet Awards for Culinary Excellence at the Fairmont Hotel.

The event, which benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, will include cocktails and hors d’oeuvres prepared by forty of Chicago’s chefs, a silent and live auction, a three-course dinner and a dessert buffet.

This year’s theme “Green for Life” focuses on keeping the air clean for CF survivors and will feature local and organic foods and décor constructed from recycled materials. Robert Tegel, from Chicago’s Green City Market, will also receive the inaugural “Green for Life” award.

Tickets cost $400 and proceeds will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s research for a cure. You can purchase your ticket online here.
