A small house in west suburban Lyons was home to $20 million worth of marijuana. The Cook County sheriff is investigating.

Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart says the pot bust is one of a kind.

DART: This was something where we hit the jackpot. I mean, this is an amount that you will not see usually in a decade, you won’t see something like this. So this is an incredibly large amount to get in one arrest.

Dart says they found more than 5,500 pounds of pot in plastic wrap lying around the west suburban house. He says it was about to be distributed around Chicago.

DART: The bundles here have not been cut. This is straight from Mexico, high grade, has not been mixed with anything else yet. So that, obviously, increases the value a great deal, too, so at a minimum this is about $20 million.

Thirty-five year-old Frederico Moreno was arrested for the pot. He’ll appear in bond court Saturday. Dart says he expects more arrests to be made.
