Back in 2000, Steve Edwards talked with Jonathan Towers. Towers is the executive producer of an A&E documentary about Colonel Robert McCormick, the first owner of the Chicago Tribune. The Colonel was a larger than life character. He was 6 foot 4 inches and weighed in at more than 200 pounds, cutting an imposing figure in the newsroom. According to Towers, McCormick’s reserved and distinguished manner might have caused some fights in the modern Tribune Tower.
