Madeleine Albright will discuss the lessons learned from her years in government, and prescribe a plan for the next occupant of the White House to restore the global reputation of the United States.  In her new book, Memo to the President-Elect: How We Can Restore America’s Reputation and Leadership, she proposes provocative ways for the leadership of the United States to make the country a source of inspiration for the rest of the world.  Her book is a timely contribution to the public discourse in advance of the 2008 election, and her unique experiences at the highest levels of government and diplomacy inform her creative, thoughtful, and pragmatic approach to world affairs.

Madeleine Albright served as U.S. secretary of state from 1997 to 2001. Her distinguished career in government includes positions in the National Security Council, on Capitol Hill, and as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.  She is a principal of The Albright Group, a global strategy firm, and chair and principal of Albright Capital Management, an investment advisory firm focused on emerging markets.  Secretary Albright earned a B.A. with honors from Wellesley College, and master’s and doctorate degrees from Columbia University.
