To inaugurate the John Kurtich Lecture Series, renowned filmmaker and creative polymath George Lucas conducts a Q & A session, moderated by Bruce Jenkins, School of the Art Institute’s Dean of Undergraduate Studies.

George Lucas is the director of Star Wars and American Graffiti, creator of the adventurer Indiana Jones, and a pioneer in moving image technology. In addition to creating one of the most legendary film series in motion picture history, he has founded such companies as Industrial Light and Magic and Skywalker Sound, which continue to revolutionize the way films are made.

John Kurtich has been professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for thirty-five years and was a pioneer in founding the field of Interior Architecture. A true renaissance man, Kurtich drew on his scholarship in classical architecture, filmmaking, theater, and music to teach the kind of transdisciplinary course work that makes the School of the Art Institute a leader in the education of tomorrow’s artists and designers. The John Kurtich Lecture Series honors the legacy of this beloved friend of the School.
