The Ellen Stone Belic Institute is one of three lead partners developing community programming around the touring group exhibition “Off the Beaten Path: Violence, Women and Art,” which addresses violence against women and the basic right to safety, security, and justice through the work of 29 contemporary artists from 25 countries. Four of the exhibiting artists—Patricia Evans, Susan Plum, Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, and Hank Willis Thomas—and moderator Jane M. Saks, Institute Executive Director, will discuss the ways art can be a tool of expression and action for social change. This event is organized by the Ellen Stone Belic Institute for the Study of Women & Gender in the Arts & Media and co-presented by The Voices and Faces Project, with support from the Leadership Donors of the Ellen Stone Belic Institute, Chicago Foundation for Women, and the Art + Design Department at Columbia College Chicago.
