Artist Betsy Odom discusses her latest creation, Sis, Boom, Bah, a playful selection of original work now showing at the Hyde Park Art Center. Odom turns gender roles on their ear with a hand-crafted collection of sports memorabilia. From double-sided whistles to satin and lace adorned shoulder pads, Odom’s work challenges common perceptions of gender roles. During the talk, Odom will discuss the extreme crafting techniques she used to create the work, and the implications of the images she presents.
Sis, Boom, Bah will be on view at the Hyde Park Art Center from March 13 – June 19, 2011. Exhibitions at the Art Center are always free and open to the public.
