A fire that broke out this morning at an apartment building at the edge of Loyola University’s campus injured at least 10 people.  All were taken to area hospitals, some in serious condition.

“There were a couple of rescues made from the fire department, bringing down a couple of people from the main ladder in front of the building and one person interior wise,” said Richard Rosado, spokesman for the Chicago Fire Department.

A spokeswoman with Loyola University says a nearby dorm was evacuated as a precautionary measure. Students are now allowed back into the building.

Officials continue to investigate the cause of the blaze.
