By Chris DavilaBetter Boys Foundation’s second annual Sundown in K-Town film festival will focus this year on films about food. Sundown in K-Town 2013: Dig In! A West Side Film Festival About Food will present a line up of short and feature length films that address issues related to the west side and its residents—African-American foodways and cultural traditions; obesity, diabetes, and other food-related disease burdens that plague inner-city communities; food deserts/lack of access to healthy foods and connections to hunger in America; the growing interest in urban gardening in Chicago and other major US cities; and the politics of the school lunch system. All films will be shown free of charge from Tuesday, August 6 to Friday, August 9, 2013, at 8:15pm (or sundown) in the courtyard of the BBF Center at 1512 S. Pulaski Rd. BBF’s FilmLAB youth apprentices will also present new work on the topic of food.
