By Rob WildeboerJudge James Zagel is inviting Rod Blagojevich’s attorneys to appeal his decisions - literally. He’s denied almost every motion brought by the former governor’s defense attorneys, and this week they’ve shown some frustration in court.
After one adverse ruling defense attorney Lauren Kaeseberg said she wanted to say something for the record but Zagel cut her off saying the time to make the record is before he rules.
In the last couple days Zagel has been waiting until the lawyers present their arguments and then he asks if anyone has else anything to add. But after an adverse ruling Tuesday, Blagojevich attorney Sheldon Sorosky asked if he could make a comment. Zagel said this is not a dialogue, this is a ruling. Sorosky persisted but Zagel cut him off saying the place to comment is a floor higher, an apparent reference to the appeals court which is on the 27th floor of the federal court building.
