Oak Brook-based McDonald’s reported strong growth in April same-store sales figures on Monday.
The world’s biggest hamburger chain reported a 4 percent increase in revenue at company-owned and franchised restaurants in the U.S.
Results were even better overseas. Sales of McDonald’s McCafe drinks and breakfast items drove April revenues up 6 percent worldwide.
The figures are a snapshot of food revenue and don’t include franchise fees and rents that make up part of McDonald’s corporate revenue.
Revenue at stores open at least a year is a key gauge of a restaurant operator’s health because it excludes results from stores opened or closed during the year.
