Princess Cruise Lines named Chicago the #1 stressful city in America. They blame financial burden and our continuing weight battles as culprits. And you’re taking away our one of our biggest stress relievers? Venetian Night? I guess if you think about it, I spend about $6,500 on boat decorations and eat 20 lbs. of Italian beef every Venetian night, so maybe Daley is onto something. That reminds me of the famed Onion headline: Dozens Dead In Chicago-Area Meatwave. I hope I’m not reading into this too much, but property tax increases are announced on the same day as the end of Venetian Night? So property taxes are up and Venetian Night is out. That’s the last straw. Violence, housing market collapse, city mismanagement; all that is okay. But take away my summer event to dress up my boat and drink excessively? What’s the point of living here? Hopefully Mayor Daley will answer this and other pressing questions at today’s City Council budget address. Our own Sam Hudzik will be there, tweeting live. Issues on the table? Raiding parking meters, cuts to arts programs and convention & tourism funds. Other stories of note:
  • So Chris Chelios is back in Chicago. Well, he’s back in Hoffman Estates (or wherever the Wolves reside). Chelios signed with the Wolves. Does this mean a Chelli’s Chili may be coming to a NW Suburban strip mall soon?
  • Chad Ocho Cinco tweets, Chicago press gobbles it up. Who needs press conferences anymore.
  • And finally, our thoughts and prayers are with Garrard McClendon. What an awful story.
