The benefits of regular workouts have shown everything from improved mental health to disease prevention, but what about insomnia? A quarter of all Americans aren’t getting the sleep they need. Reuters reports that aerobic exercise can help, citing new research out of Northwestern University. The study followed 23 adults who were poor sleepers and put them on a four-month fitness routine. At the end of the study, the subjects who exercised saw an improvement in their quality of sleep. The New York Times spends 36 hours in Chicago, hitting up new restaurants, quirky bars and Obama’s hood. Unfortunately it looks like they had to make a few corrections… New York might have some competition in the shopping department. According to The Huffington Post, popular UK chain TopShop will land on Michigan Avenue next spring. This will be the store’s second US location, the first opened two years ago in Soho. As Chicago prepares for its next mayor, questions continue to churn about Rahm Emanuel. Obama’s chief of staff will need to move quickly if he does decide to run, according to President Obama on The Today Show. Last week, White House advisor Dan Axelrod was tight-lipped on ABC’s This Week with Christianne Amanpour, but did say Emanuel loves the city of Chicago and would be drawn to the job. Emanuel has until November 22 to make the ballot for February’s election.
