A convention that brings millions of dollars to Chicago may not be around in a couple years.

The Food Marketing Institute might rotate its annual meeting to other cities starting in 2008.

But Leticia Peralta Davis, CEO of the group that runs Chicago’s McCormick Place convention center, says the move is far from certain.

“I have a letter that says they’re looking into their options for 2008,” Davis says. “They would like to maintain an option to secure those dates in ‘08 if they decide to stay, but that has not been decided yet.”

The Food Marketing Institute’s convention has been held at Chicago’s McCormick Place since the early-1980s.
