Produced as part of the Poetry Foundation’s Media Initiative, the Chicago Poetry Tour is a multimedia tour of poetry written in and about Chicago. The tour features the voices of a range of Chicago poets and personalities past and present, and a variety of neighborhoods and City landmarks, through archival and contemporary recordings of poets and scholars, local musicians, and historic photos.

The tour can be experienced online in its entirety by clicking here. Visitors to Chicago can also download a poetry walking tour, hosted by NPR’s Scott Simon, and take a lovely guided audio walking tour of some of the important literary and historical sights along Michigan Avenue and downtown. The poetry walking tour begins at the Chicago Cultural Center and includes such iconic Chicago institutions as the Art Institute, Fine Arts Building, Millennium Park, and Harold Washington Library.

Recorded Saturday, June 06, 2009 at Printers Row Lit Fest Arts & Poetry Stage.
