Illinois officials want to know what will happen to a Northern Illinois Unviersity building where five students were shot to death. A former student opened fire on a classroom in Cole Hall in February 2008. Doors at Cole are locked and there are no classes. State Representative Bob Pritchard says Governor Pat Quinn’s staff says a new building is still a priority.

PRITCHARD: When you take a tragedy as we had on February 14th and you take a building out of commission that was serving somewhere around a third of your students, something has to be done and has to be done quickly.

Former Governor Rod Blagojevich planned to earmark $40 million for a new building. A memorial in honor of the students who died stands outside Cole Hall.
