Daily Rehearsal: Mo Welch leaves Chicago
1. Tickets for La Cage Aux Folles go on sale tomorrow. Former star of the show -- who is both famous and has a life full-of-drama -- Kelsey Grammer will not be headlining; the cast will instead be George Hamilton and Chris Sieber. The show will be at the Bank of America Theatre starting in December.
2. Check out Neo-Intensives, which will make you a better writer, according to the Neo-Futurists. "You've written pieces and they are good," they say. "But they could be even better with an outside eye. In this performance workshop, your solo or group pieces will get up on their feet and get worked out; it's like a gym for your art." Bring you own stuff, though.
3. I don't know how I missed the "hot, Zac-on-Zac action" in this TimeOut piece (their words, not mine). Zac Whittenburg and Zac Thompson talk about Dancing Henry Five. They debate post-modernism, and most importantly, are not without technologically distressing moments of their own -- in the middle of the conversation, Zac Thompson's GChat logs him out. Reviewers: They're just like us.
5. The A.V. Club has an exit interview with Mo Welch, who leaves a Mo Welch-sized hole in Chicago as she moves to L.A. to pursue more comedy opportunities. She talks about the awesomeness of the Chicago scene, how she's ready to leave because she grew up here, her time spent in Denver (?), and sketch versus stand-up. Best of luck Mo!
