Chicago Mayor Richard Daley says Eunice Kennedy Shriver was a “wonderful Chicago citizen.”The sister of former President John F. Kennedy died early Tuesday morning at a Massachusetts hospital. She was 88.
Daley is praising her for bringing the first Special Olympics Summer Games to Soldier Field, in 1968.
DALEY: She’s an exceptional woman. She did so much - not only for her family, but for this country and the world, especially in [the] Special Olympics.
Daley says Shriver was a “close personal friend” of his family. Shriver spent years living in Chicago, working in juvenile justice.
