Damien Jurado is a singer-songwriter from Seattle who began his recording career in the late 90’s. With roots in the hardcore movement, Jurado approaches traditional music forms with fresh ears. Over the past 14 years he’s also honed his lyrics to a fine point- numerous critics have called him the Raymond Chandler of folk music. His 2010 release Saint Bartlett added an atmospheric sound to his haunting songs and we were lucky enough to have him and the band stop by our studios. They performed three songs from that album as well as a just-penned song about Chicago poet Thax Douglas, who’d recently moved to Austin, Texas. Enjoy.
