DARFUR: Imagery and Reality is a symposium exploring traditions of culture and family alongside the current humanitarian crisis in the western Sudan region. An introduction from Senator Richard Durbin and a musical performance by the Chicago Children’s Choir are included.

Panelists include: Ryan Spencer Reed, a photojournalist;  Olivier Bercault, Researcher in the Emergencies program at Human Rights Watch; Connie Kamara, Senior Technical Advisor for Global Health at the American Refugee Committee; special guest and Voices from Darfur speaker, Daoud Hari; and moderator Dr. Lynette A. Jackson, Associate Professor of Gender and Women’s Studies and African American Studies at University of Illinois - Chicago and member of the Human Rights Watch Chicago committee.
