DCFS To Continue Monitoring Psychiatric Facility With Troubled Past
Earlier this year, a teen died at an Allendale psychiatric facility after he was put in a chokehold. The Illinois Department of Child and Family Services stopped placing children there for six months. But now, that hold has been lifted. That’s even though an investigation from the Daily Herald newspaper suggests dangerous methods of physical restraints continued after the incident. DCFS director George Sheldon says the agency will continue monitoring Allendale. The president of Allendale says the facility is safe and physical restraint is a last resort.
